Local Economic Development

In order to be able to compete in an increasingly competitive and interlinked global economic context, regions and cities need to re-assess their economic development policies and business environments. This research area investigates how local government authorities can stimulate their local economies to improve quality of life and promote inclusive growth in cooperation with the private and non-profit sector. Studies within this research area will cover topics ranging from public-private partnerships and privatization, over municipal revenue generation, to entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

DCCA, the regulatory, policy-setting and knowledge-sharing body overseeing the development of Dubai’s creative economy, has signed a partnership agreement with DHCA, the governing body of Dubai Healthcare City, to provide world-class healthcare facilities.
